About this course
This award aims to provide the participants with the relevant knowledge, skills, and competence to professionally support individuals with dementia. The course will further address attitudes and stigma around dementia and some of the difficult issues that arise for people with dementia and their family carers during the dementia journey of care.
This course will explore the neurology of dementia, the various forms of dementia and best practice in dementia care.

Learning Outcomes for Knowledge obtained at the end of the programme:
The learner will be able to:
- Identify the symptoms, causes, effects and type of dementia.
- Describe the various medications available, their side effects and explore additional support therapies.
- Adopt personalized techniques daily when supporting individuals with dementia.
- Treat the individual with dignity, respect and sensitivity ensuring that the individual feel valued to enhance their self confidence.
There is only one module in this course which will provide the relevant knowledge, skills, and competence to professionally support individuals with dementia.
