At Uniplural Academy, the “Smart Living: Digital Tools for Greener Choices” initiative recently brought together adults, particularly migrants, to explore practical ways to live more sustainably. Delivered through non-formal learning, the programme focused on equipping participants with knowledge, digital tools, and hands-on strategies to make eco-friendly choices in their daily lives.
The sessions, held on 18th and 20th November, emphasized interactive and engaging learning. Attendees participated in quizzes, polls, and lively discussions, allowing them not only to absorb new information but also to share their experiences and perspectives on sustainable living in Malta.
A key feature of the programme was its focus on digital apps and tools to support greener lifestyles. Participants learned how technology can help reduce waste, monitor energy usage, make sustainable shopping choices, and track eco-friendly habits – all designed to make sustainable living accessible, practical, and measurable.
The non-formal approach made the sessions highly engaging and inclusive. Rather than traditional lectures, participants explored topics through hands-on demonstrations, interactive exercises, and collaborative problem-solving, ensuring that everyone could apply the knowledge in real life.
Feedback from attendees highlighted the value of combining practical tips with digital solutions. Many noted that the quizzes and polls helped reinforce learning, while group discussions fostered a sense of community and shared responsibility toward the environment.
“Smart Living: Digital Tools for Greener Choices” demonstrated that non-formal learning is a powerful way to empower adults and migrants with practical skills and digital know-how for sustainable living. By making eco-friendly choices easier and more tangible, the programme supports Malta’s vision of a greener, smarter future.
