On the 30th and 31st of October 2025, Mr. Chris Micallef, Academic Manager at Uniplural Academy Malta and a Practice Development Nurse by profession, delivered two specialised training sessions to staff at the Inspire Foundation in Marsascala, Malta – focusing on Moving and Handling and Basic Life Support (BLS).

The Inspire Foundation is one of Malta’s leading organisations supporting individuals with disabilities through educational, therapeutic, and inclusive services. Its dedicated team has selected Uniplural Academy for professional training to enhance the quality and safety of care provided.

The first session covered safe moving and handling techniques, highlighting the correct use of equipment such as lifters, wheelchairs, pat slides, and sliding sheets. Forty staff members participated in both theoretical and practical components, actively engaging in discussions on teamwork, safety, and best practice. Reflecting on the importance of professional confidence, Mr. Micallef noted, “Good care starts with confidence – and confidence comes from competence. When we understand the why behind every action, we make care safer for everyone involved.” The second day focused on Basic Life Support, combining updated CPR guidelines with practical simulation exercises. The participants practised essential resuscitation techniques in realistic scenarios, strengthening their readiness to respond in emergencies. As Mr. Micallef emphasised, “In a critical moment, it is not only the knowledge we hold that makes the difference – it is also the skill we have practised.”

Through these sessions, Uniplural Academy reinforced its commitment to bridging education and practice, empowering professionals with the skills and confidence to deliver safe, compassionate care.
