CPD Session Empowers Healthcare Students to Improve Communication with Persons of Varying Needs

As part of its commitment to continuous professional development and corporate social responsibility Uniplural Academy hosted a dynamic CPD session aimed at equipping healthcare students with essential communication skills and emotional intelligence when working with individuals with diverse needs.

The session that was held on the 23rd of August 2025 addressed the topic “Understanding Social and Emotional Behavioural Difficulties & Autism”. The lecture was delivered by Ms Dorianne Cutajar, a qualified LSE2 with extensive experience in the field. Ms Cutajar provided in-depth insights into the challenges faced by both service users and care providers, offering practical tools and strategies for fostering empathy, understanding and inclusive communication.

Ms Cutajar highlighted that, “students were engaged in an interactive session that included open discussions and a dedicated Q&A segment”. She added that “participants had the opportunity to connect directly with peers, providing for exchanges that highlighted the real-world complexities of healthcare communication. This allowed students to learn from each other and to reflect on their own practices.”

Uniplural Academy took this opportunity to identify areas where future healthcare professionals could further strengthen their knowledge and skills, reinforcing its dedication to nurturing competent, compassionate workers ready to meet a wide range of needs.

As part of Uniplural’s CSR initiatives, participation in this session was offered at no cost to attendees. All participants received a Certificate of Participation in recognition of their commitment to ongoing professional development.

This session forms part of a wider initiative by the Academy to support the development of socially responsible and emotionally intelligent healthcare professionals, capable of delivering high-quality care in inclusive settings.
