As part of our Childcare Course – the Pre-Tertiary Certificate in Early Childhood, Education and Care (MQF Level 4) – we strive to move beyond traditional classroom teaching where the lecturer delivers content and students passively listen. Instead, we focus on creating interactive and engaging learning experiences.
For the module Inclusion and Anti-Discrimination the lecturer recently took students to a local swings park. There, they explored real-life examples of inclusive infrastructure, such as ramps and specially designed swings for young children and individuals with special needs.
The students’ feedback was very positive. They found the session far more engaging and impactful, as they were able to visualise inclusivity in practice within the Maltese context rather than just read or hear about it.
This innovative approach not only makes learning more meaningful but also highlights the value of our courses offering practical experiences that prepare students for real-world challenges. It also serves as an excellent invitation for more learners to consider joining our programmes.
